International TV & Movie News Explained in Under 3 Minutes: The Weekly Screen Scene

Hey there, pop culture fans! It’s Friday, March 20, 2026, and we are back with your weekly dose of everything hitting the big and small screens. If you’ve been too busy scrolling through TikTok or working through your backlogs to keep up with the trade papers, don’t worry. At Rock Universe, we know you want the highlights without the fluff.

The entertainment world is moving fast this week. From web-slinging updates in the MCU to the glitz of the Academy Awards, there’s a lot to talk about. Here is your "Weekly Screen Scene" summary, designed to get you up to speed in under three minutes.

Spidey is Back: "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Details

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for another massive summer, and the focus is squarely on everyone’s favorite neighborhood hero. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is officially swinging into theaters on July 31. We’ve known Tom Holland and Zendaya were returning for a while, but the latest casting news has the internet buzzing.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who did an amazing job with Shang-Chi, is taking the director’s chair. This time around, the cast is looking like a heavyweight champion lineup. We’ve got Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman joining the fray, which suggests a slightly younger, more grounded vibe for this new trilogy. But don’t think for a second that Marvel is leaving the veterans behind. Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal are confirmed to return. Seeing Peter Parker interact with the Punisher and Bruce Banner in the same film is exactly the kind of chaos we go to the movies for.

Expect this film to be a "soft reboot" of sorts, focusing on Peter’s life after the world forgot who he was at the end of No Way Home. It’s going to be emotional, action-packed, and undoubtedly full of the merch-ready suits we love here at Rock Universe.

The King of Pop Hits the Big Screen

Music biopics are the biggest trend in Hollywood right now, and the biggest one of all is almost here. Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic, is set for a wide premiere on April 24. However, if you are a die-hard fan, you’ll want to look for early IMAX and Dolby screenings starting April 22.

The film features a massive ensemble, including Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. Producers are promising a "warts and all" look at the legendary performer's life, and the early footage shown at industry events suggests the choreography and vocal performances are going to be mind-blowing. Given the scale of MJ's concerts, seeing this in IMAX is probably the only way to do it justice.

Streaming Giants: From Paris to Napa Valley

If you’re more of a "couch and snacks" kind of person, the streaming world has some massive updates. First up, the Emily in Paris juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. Netflix revealed that the show generated over 250 million views between 2023 and late 2025. It’s a cultural phenomenon that people just can't stop hate-watching: or genuinely loving.

Because you can never have too much of a good thing, creator Darren Star is officially developing a companion series called Uncorked. Instead of the fashion runways of Paris or the cobblestone streets of Rome, this one is set in the lush vineyards of Napa Valley. Expect more romance, more drama, and probably a lot more wine.

Over on Peacock, Jennifer Garner is returning to the small screen in The Five Star Weekend. Premiering July 16, this adaptation of the Elin Hilderbrand novel also stars Gemma Chan and Timothy Olyphant. It’s being pitched as the ultimate summer binge-watch, focusing on friendship, loss, and high-society secrets.

Award Season Wrap-Up: The Oscars 2026

The Academy Awards just wrapped up, and while there were plenty of favorites, there were also a few massive surprises that had us cheering.

The big win for world cinema went to the Norwegian family drama Sentimental Value, which took home the Oscar for Best International Film. It’s a poignant, beautifully shot movie that proves you don’t need a $200 million budget to move an audience. If you haven't seen it yet, keep an eye on your local art-house cinema or premium streaming services.

The emotional highlight of the night, however, was Amy Madigan. She earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the supernatural thriller Weapons. This marks her first nomination in 40 years, and her win was met with a standing ovation from the entire room. It’s always great to see a veteran actor get their flowers after decades of hard work.

What’s Filming? Globetrotting Productions

If you’re looking ahead to next year, some of the biggest names in Hollywood are currently on set.

The White Lotus Season 4 is officially heading to France. After the tropical vibes of Hawaii and the historic beauty of Sicily and Thailand, Mike White is taking his "eat the rich" satire to the French Riviera. The new ensemble cast is absolutely stacked, featuring Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Coogan, and Vincent Cassel. We can already imagine the biting dialogue and the awkward dinner scenes.

Meanwhile, Damien Chazelle: the man behind La La Land and Whiplash: is pivoting to something much darker. He’s currently directing a prison drama, and the rumors are that Cillian Murphy and Daniel Craig are in talks to star. Combining Chazelle’s frantic directing style with the intensity of Murphy and Craig sounds like a recipe for an instant classic.

Why We Love the Screen Scene at Rock Universe

At Rock Universe, we aren't just about selling cool stuff; we are fans first. Whether it’s getting hyped for a new Spider-Man suit or debating the winners of the Oscars, pop culture is what keeps us going.

The stories we watch on screen influence the clothes we wear, the toys we collect, and the way we talk with our friends. That’s why we make it our mission to keep you informed. When Spider-Man: Brand New Day drops, you know we’ll have the gear. When The White Lotus makes everyone want to dress like they’re on vacation in Cannes, we’ve got you covered there too.

Quick Hits: Other News You Might Have Missed

Before we wrap up, here are a few more tidbits to keep you in the loop:

  • Trailer Drops: Keep an eye out for the first teaser of the Uncorked series next week. Rumor has it the scenery is enough to make anyone want to move to California.
  • Casting Rumors: There are whispers that a certain former Batman might make a cameo in a future Marvel project, though nothing is confirmed yet.
  • Tech in Film: More studios are moving toward "early access" IMAX screenings for major blockbusters, following the model used by the Michael biopic. If you like the big screen, start saving those loyalty points.

Staying Connected

The world of movies and TV changes every single day. One minute a show is the biggest thing on earth, and the next, everyone is talking about a surprise indie hit from Norway.

We’ll be here every week to break it all down for you. Our goal is to make sure you never feel out of the loop when you’re hanging out with friends or scrolling through your feed. Pop culture should be fun, not a full-time job to keep track of.

So, what are you most excited for? Is it the return of Tom Holland as Peter Parker? Or are you more interested in the drama of Napa Valley? Whatever it is, make sure to check back next Friday for another edition of The Weekly Screen Scene.

In the meantime, head over to our main store page to see the latest arrivals inspired by your favorite movies and shows. We’ve got new stock coming in all the time, and we love seeing how you bring the screen scene into your real life.
