New Album Drops & Massive Tours: This Week’s Music News Explained in Under 3 Minutes
Hey there, Rock Universe family! Penny here.
If you’re anything like me, your morning routine involves three things: coffee, checking the latest tour dates, and seeing which of our favourite bands just dropped a surprise banger. It’s been a wild week in the music world, and if you’ve been living under a rock (pun intended), you might have missed some of the biggest news of the year.
From massive stadium tour updates to the "Friday of the Century" where two of the biggest alternative bands on the planet dropped albums at the exact same time, there is a lot to catch up on. Don’t worry, though, I’ve done the scrolling so you don’t have to. Here is everything you need to know about this week’s music news in under three minutes.
The Double Drop: Twenty One Pilots and Bring Me The Horizon Rule the Airwaves
Friday, May 24th, 2024, is going down in history for alt-rock fans. We didn’t just get one highly anticipated album; we got two.
First up, Bring Me The Horizon finally gave us POST HUMAN: NeX GEn. After months (okay, years) of delays and teasers that felt like solving a Da Vinci Code puzzle, Oli Sykes and the boys surprise-dropped the digital version of the album at midnight. It’s the second instalment in their Post Human series, and let me tell you, it’s everything we wanted. It’s got that glitchy, futuristic, hyper-pop-meets-metalcore vibe that only BMTH can pull off. Tracks like "Top 10 staTe tuesDay" are already blowing up on TikTok, and honestly, the wait was worth it.

But they weren't alone. Twenty One Pilots also released Clancy on the same day. This album marks the end of the nearly decade-long lore that started back with Blurryface. Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun have delivered a record that feels like a homecoming, blending the synth-heavy sounds of Trench with the raw energy of their early days. Whether you're a long-time member of the "Skeleton Clique" or a new fan, Clancy is a must-listen.
If you’re planning on hitting the pit for either of these bands soon, you’re going to need the right gear. Check out our Twenty One Pilots collection and Bring Me The Horizon merch to make sure you’re looking the part.
Metallica’s M72 Tour: Still the Kings of the Stadium
While the new kids on the block are dropping albums, the veterans are showing everyone how it’s done on the road. Metallica is currently tearing through the 2024 leg of their M72 World Tour.
If you haven't seen the "No Repeat Weekend" setup yet, it’s absolute madness. They play two nights in every city with two completely different setlists and zero repeating songs. That means if you go to both shows, you’re getting 30+ different tracks. The stage is a massive ring in the center of the stadium, putting the band right in the middle of the crowd.

Reports from their recent stops in Europe show that the band is sounding tighter than ever. They’re leaning heavily into their latest album, 72 Seasons, but the classics like "Enter Sandman" and "Master of Puppets" are still the moments that bring the house down. You can check out the remaining dates on Ticketmaster or Songkick to see if they’re coming to a city near you.
And hey, you can't show up to a Metallica show in a plain t-shirt. Grab an official Metallica tee from Rock Universe before you head out.
Green Day’s "Saviors" Tour: A Nostalgia Trip Like No Other
If you’re a fan of 90s and 2000s punk rock, this is your year. Green Day has officially kicked off their Saviors tour, and it is a massive celebration of their legacy. Not only are they playing tracks from their brilliant new album Saviors, but they are also playing Dookie (celebrating its 30th anniversary) and American Idiot (celebrating its 20th anniversary) in their entirety.
Imagine that: two of the most iconic albums in rock history, played back-to-back in one night. Billie Joe Armstrong is still the ultimate showman, and the energy in these stadiums is off the charts.

It’s the perfect time to stock up on some classic punk gear. Whether you’re a fan of the red tie and black shirt look or you want something more modern, our Green Day merch store has got you covered.
Festival Season is Officially Here
We’re right on the cusp of the big summer festivals. Download Festival is just around the corner, and the lineup is looking stacked with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold, and Queens of the Stone Age. Then there’s Glastonbury, which always brings a mix of everything from pop royalty to indie legends.
The thing about festivals is that your t-shirt choice is your calling card. It’s how you find your tribe in a crowd of 100,000 people. Are you a thrash metal fan? A pop-punk kid? A hardcore veteran? Whatever your vibe, make sure you head over to our New Arrivals section to grab something fresh for the festival circuit.
Why Officially Licensed Merch Matters
I know, I know, you can find cheap knock-offs on every street corner. But here’s the thing: when you buy officially licensed merchandise from places like Rock Universe, you’re actually supporting the artists you love. A huge portion of an artist's income these days comes from merch, especially with streaming being... well, what it is.
Plus, the quality is just better. No one wants a t-shirt that shrinks to the size of a doll’s clothes after one wash or a print that peels off before the concert is even over. Our shirts are built to last, just like the music.

Wrapping It Up
It’s a great time to be a music fan. Whether you’re spinning the new BMTH record on repeat or getting ready to lose your voice at a Green Day show, the community is more alive than ever.
Stay tuned to the Rock Universe blog for more updates, and don't forget to follow us on social media for the latest merch drops and music news.

Until next time, keep it loud.
